DAY 02 : Colombo- Full day city tour- Colombo
Breakfast at the property. Full day city tour in Colombo.
A drive through the city taking you to the busy commercial areas as well as the tree-lined residential, Cinnamon Gardens. Visit Fort, the former British administrative center and military garrison, Sea Street – the Goldsmith’s quarters in the heart of Pettah, the Bazaar area, where is also a Hindu Temple with elaborate stone carvings and the Dutch Church of Wolfendhal dating back to 1749. The historic Dawatagaha Mosque and the former Eye Hospital are two buildings in Cinnamon Gardens worth looking at. Also visit the BMICH, see the replica of Avukana Buddha and the Independence Square.

NUMBER 11 – The house in 33rd Lane is an essay in architectural bricollage. In 1958 Bawa bought the third in a row of four small houses which lay along a short cul-de-sac at the end of a narrow suburban lane and converted it into a pied-à-terre with living room, bedroom, tiny kitchen and room for a servant. When the fourth bungalow became vacant this was colonised to serve as dining room and second living room.
Gallery Café – Established in 1998 Paradise Road the Gallery Café is housed in the former offices of world-renowned Sri Lankan architect, the late Geoffrey Bawa. Geoffrey Bawa personally approved the takeover of his beloved property and it’s conversion into a gallery and restaurant maintaining its original state with only the pavilion as an addition.

Anuradhapura was made the first capital of Sri Lanka by King Pandukhabaya in the 4th century BC and it so remained till the 11th century AD known as the longest serving capitals, famous in ancient and modern times. Anuradhapura is a beautiful picturesque town located along a river bank which is popular for the fascinating ancient ruins and deep-rooted Buddhist culture. There is plenty to see in Anuradhapura from ancient trees like the Sri Maha Bodhi, the oldest tree in the world, to ancient monasteries and ruins of historical importance. Anuradhapura is one of the eight historical heritage sites in Sri Lanka.

Wilpattu National Park is situated between the North Western and North Central provinces of Sri Lanka. It is one of the biggest and first parks to be opened to the public. It is supposed to be one of the best national parks in the world noted for leopard breeding. Due to 16 years of civil war and the park being closed for public, the density of the forest has increased. However, it was reopened recently and visitors are able to tour only quarter of the area. It is the ideal location for safari trips in February and October.

DAY 05: Anuradhapura – Kandalama – Sigiriya Rock -Sigiriya

Thereafter proceed to Sigiriya to witness the 8th Wonder of the world.
Experience 3: Visit the Local Farms by tuk tuk or tractor. You’ll learn firsthand about the life and work of the villagers, who cultivate a variety of crops including sweet potato, manioc and finger millet. Meet the farmers and their families and have a go yourself at some of the agricultural techniques they use. Finally, enjoy a home-cooked lunch that comes entirely from the land. As this is off the beaten tourist trail you will be of as much interest to the local people as they are to you – you can be sure of a warm welcome and an authentic taste of rural life.
After a few hours relax at your hotel you’ll head to the iconic Sigiriya Rock Fortress, proudly proclaimed by the locals as the ‘Eighth Wonder of the World’. The site is not only scenically stunning, but is a great testament to the extraordinary engineering prowess of Sri Lanka’s inhabitants around 1500 years ago. Although the remains of the fortress are limited, the scale of their engineering achievement is still highly apparent and the views from the top are magnificent. Sigiriya Rock is home to some ancient frescoes – the ‘Sigirya Maidens’ – and the graffiti on the ‘Mirror Wall’ offers a wonderful insight into the history here.
Sigiriya is situated in the Central Province of Sri Lanka close to Dambulla. It is a fortress complex of a ruined palace and one of the World Heritage sites declared by UNESCO. Undoubtedly the most treasured historical monument in Sri Lanka and probably the most visited tourist destinations in Sri Lanka, The most looked forward feature of the fortress is the frescoes. Another fascinating detail is its mirror wall. Every step from the entrance to the top is a marvel on its own, and the interesting surroundings makes the tedious climb to the top easy.

DAY 06 : Sigiriya – Dambulla cave temple – Minneriya National park – Sigiriya

Dambulla is a popular tourist destination in Sri Lanka. The popular cave temple complex in Dambulla dated to the 2nd century BC is declared as a world heritage site by UNESCO. There are over 80 caves in Dambulla, some of which are used for meditation by monks. The Famous Rock temple has five separate caves containing 153 magnificent Buddha statues, 3 statues of Sri Lankan monarchs and 4 Hindu deities. The Iron wood Forest (Namal Uyana) the ancient garden with a wide variety of plants built in the 10th century and Rose Quarts Mountain range which is 500 million years old cannot be missed while in Dambulla.
Evening commence safari at Minneriya national park.
Minneriya Park is a national park in the North Central Province of Sri Lanka. The park is a dry season feeding ground for the elephant population. Sri Lankan Leopard and Sloth bear which are rare and endangered species also inhabit this area. The park was declared as a wild life sanctuary in order to protect the watershed of Minneriya tank and the wildlife of the surrounding area. The tank is historically important for the country as it was built by King Mahasen in the 3rd century AD.

DAY 07: Sigiriya – Kandy
After breakfast check out and proceed to Kandy Via Matale
Stop at Matale Herbal garden
Matale is situated in the central province in close proximity to Kandy. This area is very famous for its spices which is considered to be the best on the island. Gardens are open to visitors and its atmosphere is superb to stroll in fragrant greenery and learn more about the spices. The spice gardens attract tourists as well as locals who visit this area. These spices are used for culinary, cosmetic and indigenous medicinal purposes. Entrance to these gardens are free and children could learn to about the origin of spices and identify each spice by its individual fragrance
Transfer to Kandy.
Experience 4: The Victoria Golf Course in Kandy is the newest of all the island’s courses. Overlooking the sweeping panoramas of the Victoria Reservoir and dam, this has to be one the most beautiful places in Asia to play golf.
18 holes in length, the course is set on a large 717 acre site with a large 8 kilometres of water frontage. The course was designed by the British company Donald Steel. He had to work around misty mountains, natural rock formations and an environment that was home to at least 70 types of birds, types of deer, mongoose and fishing cats. Golf being the major highlight of the course no traveller is limited to it alone. Mountain bikes are available for those who wish to scout the surrounding of the course. Nature trails and bird watching locations are there for the environmentalist traveller. And the 8 Km water frontage of the Victoria Tank offers a cool dip, some quiet fishing.
Wonderfully landscaped, the forest trees interspersed with shrubs are skillfully blended to create a natural terrain through which the course is routed. The course even meets the specification of the USA Golf Association. Challenging T-shots and narrow coconut tree lined fairways characterise the course.
Non-members are welcome and clubs & caddies can be hired for the day.

DAY 08: Kandy City tour
After breakfast leave to Kandy city
Kandy the popular charming hill capital of Sri Lanka is surrounded by hills, valleys, rivers, lakes and waterfalls. It is the cultural center of the island and a UNESCO heritage city. The sacred tooth relic of Lord Buddha is enshrined at the Dalada Maligawa, the temple of the tooth. While in Kandy, a visit to the Royal Botanical Gardens is a must where you can see around 4000 species of plants. The arts and crafts center in Kandy, the main Buddhist monasteries Malwatta and Asgiriya Monasteries are places that must be visited. Kandy is a great place for souvenir shopping and to learn about its rich culture and history and also visit the Gem factory and learn how they are carved and made to such beautiful gems.
Experiencing new cultures and traditions is one of the reasons why people travel, and this show is the personification of this noble pursuit. The Kandy Cultural Center hosts this extravaganza, with the various components of Sri Lanka’s rich and diverse cultural history all on display. Art forms throughout the country take center stage, with fire and demon dancers stealing the show and your breath. Traditional drummers and Kandy dancers complete the mesmerizing hour-long show; a treat for locals and tourists alike.

DAY 09: Kandy- Train ride – Nuwara Eliya
After an early breakfast, the guide will take you to the train station where you will board the Train to Nanu oya.
This is known as the best of scenic Train ride in country. Guide pick you from the Station and head to Nuwara Eliya Nuwara Eliya is a city in the hill country of the Central Province, Sri Lanka. The city is considered to be one of the most important locations for tea cultivation and well known for its cool climate being the coolest area in Sri Lanka. Many of the buildings have still preserved features from the colonial period. Many private homes have also maintained their old English-style lawns and gardens. The town wakes up with many activities in April for the Sinhalese and Tamil New year. Main allure during April season include the motor and horse racing events.

DAY 10 : Nuwara Eliya – Yala

Transfer to Yala. Today you will be heading to your camp site in yala with a Naturalist

Yala National Park is located between Southern and Uva Provinces of Sri Lanka. It is the second largest park of the country and is also one of the earliest wild sanctuaries. The largest breed of leopards are found in this area. Probably sighting months of leopards are from January to July. Two prominent pilgrim sites are also situated within the park. The park was severely damaged during the 2004 Tsunami catastrophe.

Proceed to Galle via the costal line where you will see the beautiful south coast of Sri Lanka Galle the beautiful colonial town along the Southern Coast of Sri Lanka is a city that cannot be missed. Galle is popular for the 300-year-old fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The 36 hectare fort was built by the Dutch in 1663, surrounded on three sides by the ocean. The streets within the fort are crammed with colonial remnants from the Dutch clock tower, Reformed church and the commander’s house to the British coat of arms on the outer wall. You can enjoy the beautiful colonial architecture, visit the Galle Maritime Museum, the Galle lighthouse

DAY 13 : Galle city tour – Bentota

Start the day with a morning visit to a bustling fish market where you will be able to choose some produce and take it to a nearby cooking class. Using fresh vegetables and spices, with clay pots and a fire stove, you will learn the local way to prepare your lunch.
